Ferrari 599 GTB -- Successor
to 575 Maranello announced
Ferrari this week announced its
latest V12 wonder, the 599 GTB, at the North American
International Auto Show in Detroit. The two-seat, front
mid-engine sports car will replace the 575 Maranello
in Ferrari's lineup.
Deriving its name from its 5999-cc
powerplant, the 599 GTB's engine will put out at least
620 hp. Two six-speed gearboxes will be offered -- traditional
manual shift or F1-style paddle shift. Adding to the
599 GTB's performance is an all-aluminum chassis, which
helps make the car lighter than its 575 Maranello predecessor.
The 599 GTB will be officially
unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show in late
February.
