Fisker Latigo CS and Tramonto
make debut at L.A. Auto Show
Exclusive California-based design
firm Fisker introduced its first two coachbuilt car
designs, at the January 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Fisker Tramonto (shown above) is a two-seat sports
car built on Mercedes-Benz SL-Class mechanicals. According
to Fisker, the Tramonto's 610-hp engine is enough to
propel the car to an impressive 202-mph top speed.
Offered alongside the Tramonto
is the Fisker Latigo LS, a similarly-styled coupe based
on the BMW 6-Series platform, with as much as 500 hp.
Both will be built in very limited
numbers -- 150 each, says Fisker. The company has several
California-based dealers in place, and plans to set
up additional dealerships elsewhere in North America,
as well as Europe, Japan, and other emerging Asian markets.
The Fisker Coachbuild Design and
Development Studio in Irvine, California opened in late
2005. Besides marketing its own coachbuilt automobiles,
Fisker plans to offer its industrial-design services
to create a wide range of products for other companies.
