prodrive p2 will debut at Autosport
International show
International automotive-technology
and -development company Prodrive will introduce its
first ground-up car design, the P2, at England's Autosport
International show this January.
Prodrive specializes in a wide
variety of automotive technical services and runs the
Subaru World Rally and Aston Martin Racing teams. The
firm built the P2 to showcase its technologies and engineering
skills, as well as demonstrate that it can design and
build a unique road car in less than a year.
The P2 is a two-seat sports car
design that uses a Subaru Impreza STi engine, transmission,
and four-wheel-drive system. To this, Prodrive has added
its own active handling system and an engine turbo anti-lag
system developed from its Subaru World Rally cars.
The entire design, engineering
and build of the car was done at Prodrive’s facilities
at Banbury and Warwick in the UK. Its styling was created
by Peter Stevens.
There are currently no plans to
put the P2 into production, but Prodrive estimates the
car could sell for approximately £40,000 if built
in volume.
