Toyota Will Enter Top NASCAR
Series for 2007
Toyota recently announced it will
field its Camry midsize in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series
and the NASCAR Busch Series starting in 2007.
The Japanese automaker first began
competing in NASCAR events in 2000, entering the Celica
in the NASCAR Goody's Dash Series. Several seasons later,
Toyota won its first NASCAR championship, capturing
the Goody's Dash title in 2003. The following year,
Toyota entered the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with
the Tundra pickup. In two seasons, Tundra drivers have
recorded 13 victories and 18 poles in the series.
The move to NASCAR's top series
coincides with Toyota's 50th anniversary in the United
States.
