Volkswagen GX3:
wild three-wheeler revealed
at L.A. Auto Show

Volkswagen introduced a three-wheel motorcycle-inspired sports car concept at the January 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. The GX3 is powered by a 125-hp 1.6-liter engine, teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission. This allows impressive performance -- 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds, according to VW -- with 46-mpg fuel economy.

Despite the car's startling three-wheel configuration, VW says it may consider a production version if demand is strong enough in America. If offered to the public, the GX3 could sell for less than $17k, according to Volkswagen.
